Lingoswap is run weekly during Term 2 and 3 of the academic year and is aimed towards students wanting to grasp basic Chinese conversational lingo. Although having learnt Mandarin Chinese in the past will be beneficial, it is not a requirement for students participating in the course. A focus of the syllabus is based around practical Mandarin used in everyday situations in China such as introducing oneself, shopping, eating and giving taxi directions, for instance. The syllabus will be taught by GCC Canterbury’s professional Mandarin tutors over the course throughout the year.
These workshops will also be utilised to support the Shanghai Shout Internship Challenge, MGMT228 and any other UC summer course to China as attendance will serve selection criteria for these programmes.
