Role Descriptions

President

 

2022 President Jesse Northcoat: 

"This role has honestly been the highlight of my University experience. Being President gives you the chance to practice key professional skills, take charge as the leader, and implement your vision."

 

Eligibility Criteria  

The applicant must be a student of UC at the time of application, as well as the following academic year.

The applicant must be available to assume the position from September 2021- September 2022. Therefore, participation in a semester overseas exchange will result in ineligibility.

The applicant must not be an executive of other UCSA affiliated clubs or committees.

Must be available to work with the Vice-President during the summer to plan for the upcoming year. Some exceptions may be made on a case by case basis

Vice President

2021 Vice President Simon Pannett:

Eligibility criteria

  • The applicant must be a student of UC at the time of application, as well as the following academic year.

  • The applicant must be available to assume the position from September 2021 - September 2022. Therefore, participation in a semester overseas exchange will result in ineligibility.

  • The applicant must not be an executive of other UCSA affiliated clubs or committees to ensure there are no conflicts in timing and events. Additionally, this will ensure commitment to GCC Canterbury.

  • Must be available to work with the President during the summer to plan for the upcoming year. Some exceptions may be made on a case by case basis.

Secretary

Position summary:

The secretary is responsible for the administrative tasks of the executive.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Chair Executive meetings

  • Chair Advisory Board meetings (each term).

  • Admin for Clubs Day, Shanghai Shout, and other events.

  • Emails

Treasurer

Position summary:

The Treasurer is responsible for managing GCC's financial matters.

 

Responsibilities:

  • General financial oversight of the organisation

  • Along with the President, securing funding and sponsorship

  • Financial planning and budgeting

  • Financial reporting to external stakeholders ie Advisory Board and sponsors

  • Banking, book keeping and record keeping

Marketing Manager

Position summary:

They are responsible for communicating the value of the organisation to professionals external to the university as well as communicating value to UC students.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Communicating the value of the organisation to professionals external to the university as well as communicating value to students.

  • Creating and following a marketing timeline/strategy for the various events and competitions. 

  • Along with the marketing team (marketing associate and creative director), they create and distribute marketing material for events, competitions and recruitment.

  • Curates marketing content for newsletters.

  • Distribute posters

  • Head up marketing campaigns from doing lecture bashes to pursuing potential sponsorships to boost marketing.

  • Oversees Social Media Pages along with the Marketing team.

Marketing Associate

Position summary:

The Marketing Associate is responsible for supporting the Marketing Manager in achieving marketing goals, such as marketing an event or engaging in a marketing campaign to lift the profile of GCC.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees social media marketing e.g. Facebook, newsletters

  • Distribute posters

  • Supports the marketing team in campaigns from pop up stalls to lecture bashes. 

Events Manager

Position summary:

The Events Manager is responsible for the running of GCC Canterbury events.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Be present at both Semester 1 Clubs Day and Winterlude (Semester 2) Clubs Day.

  • Responsible for events that include but not limited to:

    • China Talk series (#1 #2)

    • GCC Annual Awards Evening

    • O-Week Clubs Days and Winterlude Clubs Day

    • Along with President, can help secure guest speakers for China Talks

  • Work with the treasure to work within funding.

  • Work with the Events associate to ensure the smooth running of events.

Events Associate

Position summary:

The Events Associate is responsible for helping the Events Manager in China Talks and Annual Awards Evening and any other main events.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Be present at both Semester 1 Clubs Day and Winterlude (Semester 2) Clubs Day.

  • Responsible for Lingoswap (Term 2 & 3)

  • Work with the Events Manager to ensure the smooth running of all events.

  • Oversee any event by GCC.
